99-Year-Old “Gangster Granny” Breaks Guinness World Record with Incredible Crowd Surf at Rock the Country Festival

A 99-year-old woman in the United States has officially broken the Guinness World Record for the “oldest person to crowd surf at a concert.”

Pauline Kana, who will celebrate her 100th birthday this August, had already become an internet sensation under the nickname “Gangster Granny” through viral videos shared by her grandson, Ross Smith.

Her record-breaking crowd surf happened earlier this month during at the Austin County Fairgrounds in Bellville while Brantley Gilbert was performing on stage.

In a video posted by her grandson, Kana can be seen smiling from ear to ear as she crowd surfed above a massive audience of more than 20,000 fans while lying on a cushioned stretcher. The crowd erupted into chants of “Granny! Granny!” as she moved across the sea of concertgoers.

By the end of the clip, Kana proudly held up her Guinness World Record certificate before looking into the camera and declaring, “I did it! I’m the greatest of all time!”

At the moment she achieved the record, Kana was officially 99 years and 274 days old.

“Thank you to all 20,000 people for making this happen,” Ross Smith wrote in the caption of the viral post. “I still get chills hearing everyone chant ‘Granny.’ Such an iconic and hilarious moment.”
