John Travolta displays his timeless dance talent in a fun-filled lesson with James Corden and Aaron Taylor-Johnson

John Travolta has aged like fine wine, much like all legends. At 65, he playfully taught James Corden a dance lesson, proving he still had the moves. In the episode’s first question, Corden asked English power couple Aaron and Sam Taylor-Johnson about their Halloween transformations into Uma Thurman and John Travolta’s Pulp Fiction characters. Then, Sam and Corden expressed their admiration for the iconic film, which features a famous dance sequence with Travolta and Thurman.

Corden then requested Travolta to give them a dance lesson. Known for his commanding presence on the dance floor in his prime, especially in “Saturday Night Fever” and “Grease,” Travolta showed that he could still move with ease. The group learned various dance moves from Travolta, including the mashed potato, the hip shaker, the twist, the swim, and, of course, the Batman. Despite the simplicity of the routine, Travolta’s charisma made it an extremely entertaining segment.

On December 5, 2019, an episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden featured Travolta teaching a dance class. The nostalgic video proved to be a hit, amassing 18.9 million views on Corden’s YouTube channel. Fans expressed their joy at seeing Travolta dance again, with comments like “You never lose class, John Travolta,” and “John Travolta should be recognized as a national treasure.” His charm, legendary status, strength, and positivity continue to endear him to audiences.

One of the most iconic moments in cinema history is the dance scene between Travolta and Thurman in Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction.” In the film, Travolta portrays career criminal Vincent Vega, who is tasked with entertaining Mia Wallace, the boss’s wife, played by Thurman. When they arrive at the venue, Mia insists on entering a dance contest, leading them to dance to Chuck Berry’s “You Never Can Tell.” The original scene features the same moves Travolta later demonstrated on Corden’s show.

The Corden segment revealed some intriguing details about Travolta’s role in creating the dance scene in “Pulp Fiction.” Travolta explained, “Quentin was very determined that we both do the twist, which is a really fun dance, but there’s only so long you can watch someone doing the twist.”

Travolta added, “So I mentioned to Quentin that when I was growing up, there were novelty dances like the swim and the Batman. I suggested we expand the variety a bit.” Travolta’s suggestion of including these novelty dances convinced Tarantino, leading to the creation of the now-legendary dance scene.
