Mike Mangini Officially Joins Godsmack as the Band’s New Drummer

Former Dream Theater drummer Mike Mangini has officially joined Godsmack as the band’s new drummer following the departure of Wade Murff. The announcement came shortly before Mangini made his live debut with the group during the “The Rise of Rock” tour on June 12, 2026.
Widely regarded as one of the most technically accomplished drummers in modern rock and metal, Mangini spent 13 years with Dream Theater before departing in 2023 when founding drummer Mike Portnoy returned to the band. His arrival marks one of the biggest lineup changes in the hard rock world this year.
According to reports, Mangini stepped into the role with minimal preparation time and immediately joined Godsmack on the road. Following his first performance, he expressed gratitude to the band for trusting him with the opportunity on such short notice.
Fans have reacted enthusiastically to the news, praising Mangini’s ability to adapt his world-class drumming skills to Godsmack’s heavier, groove-oriented sound. Many are already calling the pairing an exciting new chapter for both the drummer and the band.
With a respected veteran now behind the kit, Godsmack enters the next phase of its touring cycle with renewed momentum, while Mangini begins a new era in his career following his highly successful tenure with Dream Theater.
