Kirk Hammett’s Painful-Looking Fall During “Seek & Destroy” in Dublin Had Fans Rushing to Help

Metal legends Metallica are currently powering through their massive M72 World Tour, a trek that spans 22 cities and features the band’s unique “No Repeat Weekend” format. Fans in select locations get two completely different setlists across consecutive nights, making every stop feel like a special event for die-hard followers.

The band is presently working its way through the European and UK leg of the tour, which marks the final stretch of international dates for the ongoing M72 run.

During a performance of “Seek & Destroy” at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on June 19, guitarist Kirk Hammett took an unexpected spill off the stage. Footage from the show appears to show Hammett slipping on an object before tumbling into the crowd while still wearing his guitar. Thankfully, fans reacted quickly, and the performance continued without any major interruption.

Hammett later shared clips of the incident on his Instagram Story, jokingly captioning one of them “SLIP and DESTROY,” proving he can take the mishap in stride and laugh at himself.

Metallica return to Aviva Stadium for a second performance tonight, joined by special guests Gojira and Knocked Loose.

Elsewhere in the Metallica camp, the band will release a newly remastered edition of Reload on June 26. The expanded reissue of their seventh studio album will be available in several formats, including a deluxe box set, two-LP edition, three-CD package, cassette version, and digital release.

Following the conclusion of this summer’s M72 dates, the band will head to Las Vegas later this year. The fall residency, announced in February, will see Metallica perform at the city’s futuristic Sphere venue beginning October 1 and continuing into 2027.
