Ozzy Osbourne’s family visits giant pumpkin mural created from over 10,000 squashes in tribute to the Prince of Darkness

Ozzy Osbourne’s legacy has taken many forms over the decades, but perhaps none as unexpected—or as heartwarming—as a giant mural made entirely of pumpkins. Crafted from more than 10,000 squashes, gourds, and pumpkins, this monumental tribute to the Prince of Darkness became the centerpiece of Sunnyfields Farm’s annual Pumpkin Time event. This autumn, the Osbourne family themselves arrived to witness the breathtaking tribute that has captivated fans and visitors alike.

Sharon, Jack, and Kelly Osbourne were joined by Kelly’s fiancé, Slipknot’s Sid Wilson, and their young son, Sidney, for an evening visit to the farm in Totton, Hampshire. On October 11th, the family gathered beneath the glowing sky to view the “Ozzy Osbourne Pumpkin Pyramid,” a sprawling creation that transformed thousands of pumpkins into the likeness of the metal icon. Cameras flashed as the Osbournes shared smiles, clearly moved by the overwhelming tribute to their beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

The Sunnyfields team, led by owners Tom and Ian Nelson, personally guided the family through the festival grounds, explaining the creative process behind the massive mosaic. To fully appreciate the design’s scale, Jack and Sharon climbed aboard a cherry picker, rising above the fields to admire the vast pumpkin portrait from above. The bird’s-eye view revealed every contour of Ozzy’s unmistakable features—his dark glasses, tousled hair, and iconic pose—all rendered entirely in natural tones of orange, green, and gold.

Each year, the farm invites the public to vote on the subject of its pumpkin mosaic, a tradition that has produced awe-inspiring designs such as Beetlejuice, Paddington, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. The latter even earned a Guinness World Record for the largest cucurbit mural ever made. But in 2025, the choice was nearly unanimous—over 70% of voters selected Ozzy Osbourne, honoring the Black Sabbath legend following his passing in July at the age of 76.

Once chosen, the challenge fell to Sunnyfields’ team of artists and volunteers, who meticulously arranged over ten thousand pumpkins into place. In just four and a half hours, 16 dedicated individuals transformed a blank field into an extraordinary tribute that blended artistry, devotion, and community spirit. When completed, the mural stood as both a celebration of Ozzy’s life and a symbol of his lasting impact on fans across generations.

The Osbournes’ visit brought warmth and emotion to an already heartfelt event. Photos captured Jack and Sharon embracing as they gazed down at the glowing tribute from the cherry picker, their expressions reflecting both pride and nostalgia. For the family, this was more than a public appearance—it was a moment of connection with the fans and a reminder of how deeply Ozzy’s music and personality continue to resonate with millions worldwide.

Sunnyfields Farm has made its Pumpkin Time celebration a beloved autumn tradition. Beyond the Ozzy mural, visitors can explore a mesmerizing Glow Trail and venture through six immersive rooms designed to spark wonder for all ages. This year’s event, running until Halloween night, has seen record attendance, as fans from across the UK flock to Totton to witness the tribute firsthand and take part in the festivities honoring the metal icon.

For those who built the mural, the project represents a rare blend of community creativity and cultural homage. The Nelson brothers described the process as “a true labor of love,” combining precise planning, artistic skill, and an understanding of Ozzy’s global appeal. Each pumpkin was carefully positioned to capture the depth of shading needed to recreate his image—an accomplishment that looks even more striking under the evening lights.

Visitors to Sunnyfields often describe the mural as both a celebration and a farewell—an artistic expression that feels deeply personal for those who grew up with Ozzy’s voice echoing through their lives. Whether viewed from the ground or above, the pumpkin pyramid radiates a sense of joy, nostalgia, and reverence. It captures the dual nature of Ozzy himself: darkly theatrical yet full of humor and humanity.

As Halloween approaches, the mural continues to draw admiration, photos, and tributes online. Fans have shared clips of the display set to “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” while others have expressed gratitude to the artists for giving Ozzy such a fitting memorial. Even in his absence, The Prince of Darkness remains a figure who unites generations—through riffs, rebellion, and now, through pumpkins glowing under the autumn sky.
