As a huge Queen fan myself, this is one of the best covers I’ve ever heard absolutely

Originally forming under the name Houston, the trio of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, and Charlotte Steele, later known as Remember Monday, embarked on their musical journey without realizing the prevalence of their initial name choice. This British country pop group, friends since their days in sixth form, dedicated Mondays to their collective musical pursuits, a tradition that led to their rebranding as Remember Monday.

Their musical debut came in 2018, followed by a series of TikTok performances during the pandemic, which notably included carpark renditions of popular songs, like “Fat Bottom Girls”:

Despite this, their true breakout moment on TikTok featured a brief cover of “Fat Bottom Girls,” leading to widespread acclaim and a push from their growing fanbase for a complete version. This encouragement, amplified by Brian May’s acknowledgment, culminated in a YouTube cover that has amassed nearly 1.3 million views, with the original TikTok clip reaching 3.6 million.

While their “Fat Bottom Girls” cover showcases their versatility, Remember Monday primarily focuses on original music. Their participation in The Voice UK 2019 highlighted this commitment, where they performed “Jailbreaker” from their debut EP, “Hysterical Women,” released in February 2023. The EP’s lead single, “Nothing Nice To Say,” is featured here:

Their journey on The Voice UK was supported by their coach, Jennifer Hudson, who contributed to their music video production. That same year, they clinched the Best Group title at the British Country Music Awards, further establishing their presence in the music scene.

Critics have lauded “Hysterical Women,” with comparisons drawn to the likes of Destiny’s Child and Carrie Underwood, highlighting the EP’s vibrant feminist country pop essence. The trio’s longstanding friendship, dating back to their meeting at Farnborough College in 2012, has been a cornerstone of their evolving success, leading to notable performances, including supporting Billy Joel and headlining their own show in London.

Despite their musical achievements, the members of Remember Monday juggle their passion with significant roles in the performing arts, with Lauren Byrne in prominent West End productions, Holly-Anne Hull featured in “The Phantom of the Opera,” and Charlotte Steele contributing to arts education and choreography.
